Trailer Park: First Peek At Pixar’s “Onward”

Pixar has a new movie coming out next March. Onward presents a once-upon-a-time land that has evolved to modern suburbia.  Mermaids soak on the front lawn in plastic wading pools.  Unicorns get into trash cans.  Lawn gnomes mow the lawn.  Naughty dragons get the water bottle squirted at them when they misbehave.

To hear the trailer properly, be sure to pause the SCIFI.radio stream while watching. The controller is at the top of the screen.

“In times of old the world was magical … but times change.  Onward cometh.”

Two teenage elf brothers embark on a quest in a battered but gorgeously painted van to see if magic still exists in their world.

Given two moons in the sky, and the prevalence of elves, ogres, centaurs, and gnomes, it seems likely Ian and Barley will be successful in their quest, if they ever get off their cell phones.

Pixar has, once again, assembled an all-star voice cast, with Tom Holland (Spider-Man) as Ian Lightfoot and Chris Pratt (Owen Grady in Jurassic World, Starlord in the MCU)  as Barley Lightfoot.  Octavia Spencer (Roberta Taylor in Gifted, Dorothy Vaughn in Hidden Figures) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Selina Meyer in Veep, Atta in A Bug’s Life) also provide voices .  Being a Pixar film, it’s probable that John Ratzenberger will have at least a cameo.
