Trailer Park: Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Trailers for the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sub-series of the Harry Potter franchise are now playing in theaters.

This movie is subtitled “The Secrets of Dumbledore,” but the focus appears to be a magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne_ and his Muggle friend Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). As anyone who’s read the books knows, at the same time we Muggles were fighting WWII against Hitler’s fascism and racism, Albus Dumbledore duelled his former BFF Gellert Grindelwald when Grindelwald tried to take over the Wizarding World. Just as Hitler claimed the superiority of the “Aryan race,” so Grindelwald advocated the superiority of Pureblood wizards and witches over Muggles and Halblood wizards.

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecicilius in Doctor Strange), Erso in Rogue One) plays as Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law (Dr. Watson to Robert Downey, Jr.’s Sherlock holmes) plays the young Albus Dumbledore, currently a brilliant wizard, but not yet headmaster of Hogwarts.

The movie goes from Hogwarts, where Jacob becomes one of the few Muggles to be permitted to visit Hogwarts to South America, to Europe at the edge of war,

It looks like this should be a fun movie, with more background on life in the Wizarding world, plenty of excitement in the eternal war between Good and Evil.

But a muggle with a wand? Was that really necessary? What was Dumbledore thinking?
