Jared Leto is making his return to the comic book movie scene.

The trailer for Sony Pictures Morbius dropped today and it seems to be giving us what a lot of fans have been asking for: a Marvel horror movie.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

After his unsuccessful run as the Joker in Suicide Squad, Jared Leto will be starring in Morbius as Michael Morbius, antihero and “pseudo vampire.” Morbius will also be starring Doctor Who’s Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson.

Michael Keaton also made a surprise cameo in the trailer. As of now, his role has been undisclosed, but it would not be a far stretch for him to be reprising his role of Vulture from Spiderman: Homecoming. While Spiderman: Homecoming and Spiderman: Far From Home are a part of Disney’s MCU, Sony has stated that their own Marvel universe would still be set in the same universe as Spiderman, which includes Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Venom 2. With how quick Sony has been to reveal Michael Keaton’s casting, could there be even bigger surprises in store?

‘Morbius’ is set for theatrical release on July 31, 2020.
