“Peace is a lie. There is only passion.” It’s part of the first line of the Sith code. In the new Star Wars series from Disney+, the foundations of the Sith are explored in the persona of a Jedi acolyte named Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg.

The series takes place in the final days of the High Republic, approximately 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.

Vernestra Rwoh, who is played by Rebecca Henderson, makes her live-action debut in this series. She has previously appeared in books and comics that are set in the High Republic era. According to Leslye Headland, Vernestra will be the only familiar High Republic character to be featured in the first season, and she plans to add others in a possible second season.

Filming took place between October 30, 2022 through June 6, 2023, in Madiera, Portugal, London, England, Shinfield Studios at Berkshire in the UK, and there was location work done in Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.

Created by Leslye Headland, and starring Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen and Jodie Turner-Smith, the two-episode premiere of The Acolyte, a Star Wars Original series, arrives June 4 on Disney+.
