It’s the third movie in the trilogy from Dreamworks Entertainment, and it brings the world of How to Train Your Dragon into a new vivid presence we have never seen before. Watch this freshly dropped trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Pause the SCIFI.radio stream while you watch, because this is awesome.
The first important note is that Toothless has a girlfriend, and she’s a Light Fury with a little something extra — she can teleport! The movie, then, has two main storylines, one being Toothless making a complete clown of himself over what he hopes will be his new girl, and the other being Yet Another Rule The World Baddie who apparently wants to capture and control every last type of dragon there is, and who wants Toothless for his collection. Of course a now bearded Hiccup is not about to turn over his dragon, and his home town of Berk has to be evacuated in order to save the dragons with whom they have bonded and become family.
The first film, How to Train Your Dragon, made its debut in 2010 to both popular and critical acclaim. Loosely based on the book series by the same name by Cressida Cowell (whom we hope has become stupidly rich from the licensing for this), the Dragon films have become a mainstay in the maturation of a new generation of geeklings.
The new film stars the voices of Jay Baruchel as Hiccup and American Fererra as Astrid, and debuts March 1, 2019. As you can see, they already have quite a lot of it done.
Put a pin in that date on the calendar. This one’s going to be good.
