Céline Dion knocks it out of the park every time she works on any film, and today’s Video of the Day, of her singing Ashes for the soundtrack of Deadpool 2, shows that she’s still working hard to make that bar unreachable for anyone but her.
It’s a dazzling performance.
It’s also punctuated by appropriately weird interpretative dance by Deadpool in stiletto heels, stealing the visuals as Céline steals the soundtrack. As good as this song is on its own, and as much as it’s worth playing a few times through just for that, it’s also worth playing a couple of times just to watch the bizarre antics of our favorite (usually profane) anti-hero blood sock.
We don’t actually think those people at Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment are really treating the PR campaign for this movie with any degree of responsibility. For the longest time, there simply was no storyline for the movie listed on IMDB. A few days ago, this appeared:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the Yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Okay then.
Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and Morena Baccarin, and debuts May 18.
And yes, we have the song in the SCIFI.radio playlist. Enjoy.
