Percy Jackson & The Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
The new series from Disney+ covers the plot of the first book, with mentions of the titular thunder bolt of Zeus being stolen. The series gives the book a much better treatment than the Percy Jackson movies were given, It’s worth noting that this new Percy Jackson series looks so much better than the movies did, and that a huge part of that is that Richard Riordan is large and in charge with the new Disney series. He is serving as executive producer on the series, and as writer. He was very unhappy with how the movies butchered his story, and from what we’ve seen things are looking up.
The two-episode premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians lands December 20th.
