Oscar and Emmy winning actress Eva Marie Saint has died at the venerable age of one hundred and two. Her family announced that she passed away peacefully at home, dying of natural causes. She had been the oldest surviving Oscar winner, and one of the last surviving stars of The Golden Age of Hollywood; it was her film debut. She was probably best known for winning an Oscar as Edie Doyle in On the Waterfront (1953) and for playing Eve Kandell in Sir Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest (1049). Here at SCIFI.radio, we remember her as Martha Kent, Clark Kent’s mother in Superman Returns (2006).

Eva Marie Saint won the 2nd Annual Behind the Voice Actors Voice Acting Awards for Best Female Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Guest Role, in the popular animated series Legend of Korra, Shre was 88 at the time.
Eva Marie Saint was born July 5, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey. She passed away on October 6, 2026, in Los Angeles, California.
She studied drama at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She married actor/producer Jeffrey Hayden (1926-2016). They were together for sixty-five years, until his death. They had two children, a son, Darrell, and a daughter, Laurette. She had four grandchildren, Eli Charles Beller and three others. but as of this time, we have not been able to learn their names, other than Eli’s. Film fans worldwide mourn the loss of the star of The Stalking Moon (1957), A Hatful of Rain (1957), The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! (1966) Grand Prix (1966), but that’s nothing compared to the pain of losing a grandmother.
Her Many Awards and Accolades
Saint had two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for for movies and one for television.
Her film debut in On the Waterfronr earned her both an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and a BAFTA nomination for Most Promising Newcomer.
Saint was nominated for both a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for her performance in North by Northwest.
Im 1955, Saint was nominated for an Emmy for Best Actress in a Single Performance for The Philco Television Playhouse.
In 1990, she won a Primryime Emmy Award for her work in the television mini-series People Like Us.
She won three lifetime achievement awards: from Bowling Green State University in 2018,, The SCAD Savannah Film Festiva in 2000, and the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival in 1999.
In 1977, she was nominated for an Emmy for playing Ma Macahan in How the West Was Won.
She was nominated for another Emmy in 1978 for her role in Taxi!!!
In 2007, she won the Golden Boots Award for her contribution to westerns, the same award Deforest Kelley won in memoriam in 1999.
Imagine all Eva Marie Saint saw and did in 102 years. When she was born, Coolidge was in the White House and George V sat on the throne of the UK, Today it’s Donald Trump and Charles III. She lived a long successful life, and we hope a happy one. Our comfort and condolences to her family and friends.
