The 8-Bit Big Band is a marvelous anomaly of pop culture, elevating game music into high art. Witness the glory that is their rendition and arrangement of I wanna Take You For a Ride, aka the character select screen from Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Based on the original 8 second loop that plays from that game, but expanded with additional music and lyrics as if it were a FULL SONG, this tune came to life because Charlie Rosen I loved listening to the original loop so much that he couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like if the iconic vocal loop would be if it were the chorus of a full length song, so he got his friends from the band Lawrence to come help him co-compose the rest of the imaginary tune.

Here’s the result.

This isn’t just a cover. It’s something completely new and original, with a strong current of flavor from its inspiration. It’s a love letter to game music, and it’s a real banger. Rosen even stuck in some easter eggs from one of his favorite all time bands “Tower of Power”.
