The Oscar Nominations 2024 are in as Zazie Beetz [Deadpool 2, Joker, Invincible] and Jack Quaid [Lower Decks, My Adventures With Superman, The Boys] announced the nominations for the 96th Academy Awards this morning. A number of the major nominees are relevant to the Sci-Fi audience, notably Barbie, fantasy with a message; and Oppenheimer, an examination of very real world science and ethics; Poor Things, the fantastical story of a young woman brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist.

John Williams is nominated again, this time for the original score of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Sneaking in the Short Film (Live Action) category is The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, a Roald Dahl story starring Ralph Fiennes and Benedict Cumberbatch.
