Time for a new reality.

HBO released the Season 4 trailer for Westworld and it looks like a lot is happening, as ever. The series is true high-concept science fiction and has a loyal vewership and dozens of Emmy Nominations. Progress is real as the android hosts win partial victories in freeing themselves, and humans, from servitude to oligarchs and their AI.

These violent delights have violent ends.

The fourth season is simply described as “a dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on Earth.”

Returning cast include Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul and Angela Sarafyan. Westworld is from showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Wood will play at least one new character, named Christine. Since there are multiple versions of some characters, you’ll have to watch to see which ones are back, or have been created for the new world.

Westworld is unsurpassed in world building

Lisa Joy made her feature directorial debut Reminiscence in 2021, and said that in season 4 “you’re going to see new worlds that I think are really fun and you’re going to see someone who I kidnapped from Reminiscence in a funny way.”

The eight-episode fourth season gets underway Sunday, June 26.

“Maybe it’s time you question the nature of your own reality.”
