Nick Fury and Mace Windu

Samuel L. Jackson is familiar to fans of SciFi.Radio. As S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, he is the glue that holds the MCU together. As Mace Windu was a Jedi Master, not only a powerful warrior, but the only member of the Jedi Council to understand realpolitik.

With nearly 200 riles in his resume. His movies have collectively grossed over $27 billion worldwide, making him the highest-grossing actor of all time.

Type Casting

In many of his roles, Samuel L. Jackson plays similar roles: a BAMF, a strong, tough guy who takes no guff off of anyone, cusses to make a sailor blush, and could bet any of Christian Kane‘s characters in a barroom brawl — heck, he could probably beat two or three of Christian Kane‘s characters in a barroom brawl.

One such role as Hercules Winfield in Pulp Fiction. Nick Fury is another such role, as was Neville Flynn in Snakes on a Plane (2006) and Major Warren in The Hatefull Eight (2014), and Zeus in Die Hard With a Vengeance.(1995) . Ditto Carl Lee Hailey in License to Kill (1996).

Arnold in Jurassic Park (1993) was equally tough and clever, but not so foul-mouthed.

Voice Actor and Narrator

With his deep, rich voice, Jackson is popular as a voice actor, especially as a narrator. He voiced Ninja Ninja inthe Afro Samurai video game and again in the Afro Samurai:Resurrection movie. He was Gin Rummy in The Boondocks. In Disney’s The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2, instead of playing a superhero-wrangler, he played a superhero himself, Lucius Best, aka Frozone. Jackson narrated the BAFTA-winning, Oscar-nominated socumentary, I Am Not Your Negro.

Personal Life

Samuel Leroy Jackson was born December 21, 1948 in Washington, D.C., USA. On the Winter Solstice of 2021, he will turn 73 ywars old.

To add to his many successes, The Guinness Book of World Records named Jackson the highest-grossing movie actor of all time in 2011. The majority of Jackson’s estimated $7.2 billion in wealth came from his big franchise films Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction and Star Wars.

Jackson is married to Tony-nominated actreess Tanya Richardson. Although she is primarily a stage actress, she and her husband have appeared in three movies together so far: Losing Isaiah (1995), Freedomland (2006), and Mother and Child (2009).

Jackson and Richardson married in 1980, and they currently reside in California. They have one child together, a daughter named Zoe. When a reporter asked why his wife stayed with him during his wilder years, he replied, “She always says to me that I have now grown into the man that she always knew I could be.”
