Trailer Park: ‘Morbius’ Official Trailer

Is Jared Leto’s Morbius a hero, or a villian? Maybe both. Watch the new trailer from Sony Pictures and see if you can puzzle it out. From our perspective, we don’t think Dr. Michael Morbius is really sure himself.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, the plighted doctor attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

This makes him both antihero and pseudo-vampire, striving to find the balance between saving the world, and destroying it.

Morbius also stars some other familiar faces, including Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud, and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, aka a classic Marvel villain named Hunger, a pseudo-vampire whose fate is intertwined with that of Dr. Morbius himself.

Originally set for release in July of 2020 (and we all saw how that turned out), the Morbius movie has been done and sitting on the shelf for nearly a year and a half.

Michael Keaton also made a surprise cameo in the trailer. A year ago when we first showed you the teaser for the film, the role he was playing was undisclosed.

That hasn’t changed.

We can assume from this that he plays some pivotal role, and if they told you what the role was, it would reveal some sort of major plot spoiler. As of now, his role has been undisclosed, but it would not be a far stretch for him to be reprising his role of Vulture from Spiderman: Homecoming.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the Morbius theatrical release date is now January 28, 2022.
