Who loves candy and some friendly competition? The Doctor, that’s who—and her companions are just as ready for a challenge! As with previous seasons, the first of weekly challenge videos featuring the cast has hit the official Doctor Who Youtube channel as of this morning. Seeing as this video precedes the premiere of Doctor Who: Flux, a six episode arc that starts this coming Sunday – namely, on Halloween – it’s only natural that we’re watching Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill, and John Bishop taking on a Trick or Treat contest to celebrate the season.

The rules are simple, as outlined by Gill: stand inside the box taped off on the ground, catch the candy in the pot. You can’t touch the bottom of the pail to help you, and you have to hold it by the handle, from the top. Twenty treats get tossed, catch as many as you can. The one who catches the most, wins. Sounds easy, right?

Ask Gill how easy it is. As you’ll see in the video, she’s a real stickler for the rules, at any cost. Even Whittaker is overcome by her intensely competitive spirit, and Bishop…well, he makes it look easy. Unless, of course, like Gill, you’re looking at his feet. Whittaker, on the other hand, seems more worried about getting bopped by a gummy worm than she is about catching the projectile candy! She did get lucky, however—but rules are rules, and Gill will not be bested by those who try to test them with illicit footwork or clothing interference.

Who wins this first battle of the treat bowl? Is it a clear victory, or is it a tainted win? Does playing fair serve the competitors well? Will anyone listen to Gill as she plays both judge and competitor? Check out the video below to see who won the day, and be sure to subscribe to see what other challenges appear each week. Also, be sure to check out the challenge videos from last season if you missed out on those.

Doctor Who returns this Sunday, October 31, with Flux: Chapter One – The Halloween Apocalypse at 6:25PM on BBC One, and 2:25PM on BBC America. Need the correct channel? Be sure to check your local listings – you’re not going to want to miss a second of what’s coming.
