‘Animaniacs’ Returns With a Hilarious ‘Jurassic Park’ Sendup Trailer

In its glorious tradition of breaking the fourth wall, the new trailer for Hulu’s revival of the much-beloved Steven Spielberg produced animated showcase series Animaniacs has baloney in its slacks.

Pause the SCIFI.radio stream while you watch.

Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill discover the Warner Brothers (Yakko and Wakko) and the Warner Sister (Dot) in a goofy sendup of that famous scene in Jurassic Park when dinosaurs are spotted in the wild for the first time – except instead of dinosaurs, it’s these fuzzy little animated whatever-they-are. And why not? Producer / director Steven Spielberg is the man behind both, seamlessly welding the sublime to the ridiculous.

The attention to detail is what makes it all work, everything from Alan Grant (Sam Neill) clawing his sunglasses awkwardly off his face to Ellie Sattler’s (Laura Dern) head twist, it’s all there. Steven Spielberg takes the Richard Attenborough role of John Hammand, and has his amber-headed cane. It’s likely that voice actors handled all the actual speaking parts, but the likenesses are spot on.

To be honest, we think that might actually be Steven Spielberg, though.

We broke the story here on SCIFI.radio with our interview of Rob Paulsen on The Event Horizon, the voice of both Yakko Warner and Pinkie of Pinkie and the Brain – the Animaniacs are back! It’s been 27 years since the last episode of Animaniacs aired, and all the original cast is back for the new series.

Hulu, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation unveil a brand-new version of the iconic family-friendly cartoon series for the whole family, as the Warner siblings, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister Dot, have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. The Animaniacs revival premieres on Hulu on November 20, 2020.

Paulsen, 64, will also be reprising his role as Pinkie, alongside Maurice LaMarche, who will star as The Brain in Animaniacs. The duo played a genius mouse and sidekick in the animation series Pinkie and the Brain.

Animaniacs features a large cast of characters but focuses on the story of siblings Yakko, Wakko and Dot, who wreak havoc every day of their lives. All new episodes arrive on Hulu on November 20, 2020.
