Happy Birthday, Daisy Ridley!

The energetic and charming English actress Daisy Ridley was born Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley on April 10, 1992 in London, making today her 28th birthday.

The role of Rey in the final trilogy of Star Wars movies is Ridley’s most famous role. She portrayed Luke Skywalker’s protegee in the three final three films, as well as in the web series Forces of Destiny and in related Star Wars videogames.

She started her career only as recently as 1991, when she voiced the role of Taeko in the English language version of Isao Takahata’s anime film Only Yesterday, and played minor roles until she landed her first TV series Casualty in 2013, where she played the role of Fran Bedingfield. She advanced to more complex and important roles until she landed her first major film role as Rey in 2015’s The Force Awakens. She played Miss Mary Debenham in the 2017 remake of Murder on the Orient Express, starring and directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).

Ridley was also the voice of Cotton-Tail, one of Peter Rabbit’s sisters, in the live-action/animation feature Peter Rabbit and the related short, Flopsy Turvy. Other of her roles included Hannah Kennedy in the BBC TV show Silent Witness, and Roxy in the ITV series Mr. Selfridge. Look for her as Viola Eade in Chaos Walking, currently in post-production. She will also star in the spy thriller A Woman of No Importance, which like so many other films and TV shows, has been delayed by the Covid-19.
