1st Look: “Marvel’s The Punisher” Trailer

Marvel Entertainment and Netflix have finally released an explosive new trailer for Marvel’s The Punisher, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe show on the streaming service.

We finally get a more detailed look at vigilante Frank Castle’s (Jon Bernthal, The Walking Dead) mission involving a conspiracy surrounding the murder of his wife and children, which apparently involves the government and the federal agencies hunting him down.

We also get a good look at the supporting cast of the comic book series. There is Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Last Ship), who like in the comics, assists the Punisher with supplying him weapons, electronics and intel. There is Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) who returns as the New York Bulletin reporter that has previously appeared in Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s The Defenders. No doubt she is helping the Punisher in some way, as she created a relationship of trust with him in the previous series. There is Amber Rose Revah (From Paris with Love) playing Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, who is hunting down the Punisher. Her character was created for this series.

Other supporting characters are private military corporation CEO Billy Russo (Ben Barnes, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), struggling veteran Lewis Walcott (Daniel Webber, 11.22.63) and Homeland Security agent Sam Stein (Michael Nathanson, Elementary).

Tyler Bates, best known for composing the musical score for both Guardians of the Galaxy films, will score this series. The show runner of the series is Steve Lightfoot, best known for his work on Hannibal and Narcos.

The series was announced in April 2016, following the overwhelmingly positive fan reaction to Bernthal’s performance in Daredevil. The filming for the series took place in New York City from October 2016 to April 2017. There will be 13 episodes, and a release date has yet to be announced, but is expected to be in late 2017.
