What do giant robots, King Arthur, and singer Harry Styles have in common? They’ve all gone to the Isle of Skye for filming.
Filming took place at the Quiraing and the Storr. Lealt Quarry is also thought to have been used by the film crew, and a helicopter was seen flying over that location with a camera attached. Car parks at the Quiraing were closed in August to allow for filming of Transformers: The Last Knight, the latest in the film series about giant battling robots.
The Quiraing and the Storr are both part of the Trotternish Ridge and have long been popular with hikers and nature photographers. They’ve become popular with movie makers, and if you’ve watched The Land that Time Forgot (1975), Stardust (2007), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), 47 Ronin (2013), Macbeth (2015), or The BFG (2016), you’ve seen the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye. The Wickerman (1973) and Prometheus (2012) were filmed at Storr.
As SCIFI.radio reported last month, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword was also partially filmed on the Isle of Skye. Singer Harry Styles of One Direction fame filmed the music video “Sign of the Times” dangling over Skye from a helicopter.
