Jim Parsons of “Big Bang Theory,” Marries

Jim Parsons, the star of the popular comedy The Big Bang Theory, was married Saturday,  May 13, to graphic designer Todd Spiewak.  Page Six announced they were married at the Rainbow Room in New York City.

Parsons and Spiewak wed this weekend, after being sweethearts for fourteen years. Parsons’ representative confirmed the marriage to People Magazine. The two met on a blind date in a karaoke bar, according to USA Today. In November, Parsons shared an old picture of himself and Spiewak. “I met this guy (the one with the mic) 14 years ago today and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest.” That’s a healthy attitude to have about your husband.

Jim Parsons is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. He’s won the Golden Globe and four Emmy Awards for his work as Dr. Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory.  Sheldon is a theoretical physicist, the epitome of the stereotype of the brilliant mind with little or no social skills.  Sheldon is a fan of comic books and science fiction.  Parsons  played engineer Paul Stafford in the hit movie Hidden Figures and did the voice of the alien Oh in Home. He also played Rod Holbrook in Judging Amy and Tommy Boatwright in both the play and movie version of The Normal Heart. He has done several cartoon voices.

In addition to being husbands to each other, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak are partners in the production company Wonderful Production LLC. Spiewak will be producing A Kid Like Jake (currently in pre-production), starring Parsons, Claire Danes, and Octavia Spencer, who co-starred in Hidden Figures with Parsons.

Parsons and Spiewak won an Inspiration Award at the  9th Annual GLSEN Respect Awards in 2013. (GLSEN is the Gay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network, a group that tries to fight discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation or gender identity.)
