Build Your Own TOS Enterprise Bridge From Paper

There was a time when the only way you could get a model of the bridge of the world’s most famous starship was to either build it from scratch, or buy the AMT model of it in plastic. Now you can just download it. Yes, it’s possible!

This surprisingly detailed 1/50^th scale model of the bridge of the Starship Enterprise from the original television series can be yours for the surprising price of absolutely free. It will take a color printer, the proper weight of paper, a pen knife, some white glue and a steady hand tempered by patience to build it, though.

Ron Caudillo of Lodi, New Jersey designed and built this epic miniature, and then released the patterns for free to the entire world. We love you, Ron.

In these photos, you can see the quality of the model, and the detail. Admittedly much of the detail is printed on, but it’s still a marvelous piece, and everything is in its proper place. just take a look at those chairs.

The world of paper modeling is surprisingly robust. There are literally hundreds, perhaps thousands of models, the vast majority of which are available to download for free. Most of the models are made using software called Pepakura, also well loved by costumers and cosplayers for its ability to create patterns for full sized costume pieces.
