Tales of the Shire | Announcement Game Trailer

Part of why The Lord of the Rings resonates with us to this day is the idyllic place where it all began: the Shire. J.R.R. Tolkien needed the Shire to set the stage for the epic journeys and battles that were to come, to establish what was worth fighting for, namely home and hearth. Tales of the Shire is an upcoming cozy game that lets you live the life Hobbits lived before any of all that bad stuff happened. This isn’t a story about pain. It’s about new beginnings.

In Tales of the Shire, experience the storybook return to Middle-earth’s most inviting region by living life as a Hobbit in the idyllic town of Bywater. Unwind in the breathtaking pastures, visit the townsfolks’ local shops, or even enjoy second breakfast. Help bring the community together and achieve official village status by throwing the greatest Bywater Festival the Shire has ever seen!

The game is a life sim that trades all that bloodshed, pain and longing for growing crops, exploration, making Hobbit holes homey, and making friends. Think Animal Crossing, Middle Earth style.

The game is created by Weta Workshop, which makes absolute sense, since Weta Digital was created for, and built its reputation on, the Lord of the Rings movies. The publisher is Private Division, known for the Kerbal Space Program franchise, No Rest for the Wicked from Moon Studios, Tales of the Shire from W?t? Workshop, The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey from Panache Digital Games, OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome from Roll7, Penny’s Big Breakaway from Evening Star, and other great titles. From their reputation, they clearly know how to deliver quality games.

Fancy starting a new life in Tales of the Shire? Of course you do, we all do.

Developed by W?t? Workshop Game Studio, a wholly-owned subsidiary of W?t? Workshop, Tales of the Shire will launch in the second half of 2024 on the Nintendo Switch™ system, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam later this year.
