CBS Pulls ‘Supergirl’ Episode In Light of Paris Attacks

In light of Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris that left 129 dead and another 359 injured, CBS,”out of sensitivity and respect to the events that occurred,” has announced via press release they will pull Monday’s originally scheduled episode of Supergirl in favor of a holiday-themed episode that was planned for the following week. The episode, titled How Does She Do It,  involves Kara defending National City from a series of bombings. With the coordinated attacks still fresh on everyone’s mind, CBS will instead air the episode Livewire, a Thanksgiving episode that will feature Helen Slater as Kara’s adoptive mother Eliza Danvers, and will introduce Brit Morgan as a new enemy for the Maid of Might. A CBS source told the website  As of this moment, CBS has not announced a replacement date for the pulled episode.  The official episode description is as follows:

KARA IS PULLED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS WHEN SHE BABYSITS CAT’S SON WHILE TRYING TO STOP A SERIES OF BOMBINGS, ON “SUPERGIRL,” MONDAY, NOV. 16

“How Does She Do It?” – Kara’s two identities are stretched thin when Supergirl must protect National City from a series of bombings and Kara is tasked with babysitting Cat’s son, Carter. Also, James is conflicted when his ex-girlfriend Lucy Lane seeks to rekindle their relationship, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Nov. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Levi Miller guest stars as Carter Grant, Cat’s son, and Jenna Dewan-Tatum guest stars as Lucy Lane.

This is not the first time a television episode has been pulled over current events. The now-defunct WB Network’s third season episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, titled Earshot, whose plot included a scene where a character would attempt to kill Sunnydale High students from a tower with a rifle, was pulled due to the Columbine massacre having happened a week before. The two-part season finale, titled Graduation Day, was also pulled because of a fight scene on the campus of Sunnydale High School, as the events of Columbine were still too fresh. All three episodes were later aired.

Incidentally, it has been mentioned by her Kryptonian cousin that the “S” Supergirl wears on her chest stands for hope.
