Video of the Day: OK Go’s ‘The Writing’s On the Wall’

They’re not just a really great band that’s really serious about music, they’re also a bunch of geeks who are really serious about being geeks. Watch this stunning music video in which optical illusion drives every single shot – except that it’s all one continuous take. We hope they didn’t have to do a lot of retakes to get this right, because it looks like it took many many months to set up and get right. At the end you can see a small army of technicians emerge from behind one of the illusions as a final camera trick, so you can see that the production company, Special Guest, needed literally dozens of people  to accomplish the shot.1

Pre-order the new album, Hungry Ghosts (Oct 14) now at http://bit.ly/okghosts and get this song and 3 more as instant downloads.

Enjoy.

We are big fans of the proper use of the word “literally”, by the way.  Never use “literally” when you mean “figuratively”.

LYRICS

Listen, I know it’s been hard, you know it’s no different for me.

We’re less than a zero-sum game now, and baby we both know that’s not how it’s supposed to be.

The writing’s on the wall — it seems like forever since we had a good day.

The writing’s on the wall, and I… I just want to get you high tonight. I just wanna see some pleasure in your eyes.

And I go too hot, and you go too cold and we both fall apart.

and you bring your mind to rest against mine, but the mind has no say in affairs of the heart.

The writing’s on the wall — it seems like forever since we had a good day.

The writing’s on the wall, and I… I just want to get you high tonight. I just wanna see some pleasure in your eyes.

Even if it’s the last thing that we do together.
