by Michael Brown, staff writer It's been a few years since Harry Potter and Dumbledore's Army stopped the threat of Lord Voldemort and ended the war that engulfed both the wizarding world and the Muggle world, but J.K. Rowling has returned to the wizarding world of Harry Potter with a short story posted on her Pottermore website. When last we saw Harry and company, Harry and Ginny Potter, and Ron and Hermione were saying farewell to their kids as they boarded the bright red train at King's Cross Station's Platform 9 and 3/4 that would take them to Hogwarts. But in Rowling's new story, we're treated to a glimpse as to what they've been doing since the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Written as an article from The Daily Prophet by the notoriously snarky Rita Skeeter, the story simply deals with a reunion of sorts as they all attend the 2014 Quidditch World Cup in Patagonia. We learn that Harry is now 34, and has a successful career as an Auror. He is described as having a "nasty cut over his right cheekbone," received most likely in the course of his duties, and his black hair now sporting a "couple of threads of silver." And without giving too much away, Rita Skeeter has a few words about everybody, giving her readers the skinny on everyone's current activities, including one Luna Lovegood, and even Harry's 16-year-old godson Teddy Lupin, who is apparently being a bad boy. The story, released just today, was responsible for crashing the Pottermore website for a few hours as fans clamored to read it. You can read the story, as well as participate in any other Harry Potter related mischief, on the Pottermore website. This marks Rowling's first return to the world of the bestselling novels that made her a household name since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the series, was released in 2007. Her next return to the world of Harry Potter will be with the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the novella of the same name, slated for a November 2016 release. -30-
