Hong Kong animation studio Studio Starseed presents the trailer for their animated series Cosmic Travelers, currently live on Kickstarter.

Cosmic Travelers is an indie dark sci-fi animated series. The story follows three teammates: a human boy, an android girl, and a robot that looks like a cross between a red panda and a rabbit. They get pulled into a strange game set inside a local zoo. But they soon realize the zoo is actually an arena run by higher civilizations, and Earth itself is just one small section in a massive cosmic theme park.

The cast of characters includes an android girl named Aria, masquerading as human in a world that hates robots, Luke, a boy who refuses to swap out his organic body parts for technological ones like everybody else, a caregiver robot named Ember who looks like a cross between a red panda and a rabbit, and Sasha, a performance magician who has a way with people who want to have their way with her.

Forced into dark, bloody, and bizarre competitions alongside alien rivals, they must fight to stay alive while uncovering the cold truth behind Earth’s civilization.

Cosmic Travelers is an indie animation project that Studio Starseed been developing for 7 years. They released their first trailer in 2023, but in 2025, decided to push ourselves further, completely reworking the art style into the trailer you see today.

They passed on several offers of venture capital, because they wanted to retain control over their own creation. Inspired by the success of such shows as The Amazing Digital Circus, Lackadaisy, and ALIEN STAGE, they decided to take their show to Kickstarter. The first episode of the series has a production goal of about $80K. With 28 days to go at this writing, they’ve gotten nearly $36K of that. Whether they’ll make that goal may depend on you.

Here’s the link to their Kickstarter. We know from experience with our own Patreon campaign that even tiny pledges help. It all adds up.
