At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, the hunters of Artemis took the stage and the trident of Poseidon descended from the heavens to welcome Walker Scobell, who portrays Percy Jackson himself in Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney Plus. The event, taking place at the Honda Center, teased a lot of hot Disney properties newest offerings, including that of Percy Jackson with a look at the third season of the show based on the successful young adult series penned by bestselling author Rick Riordan.

Alongside surprise guests Ming-Na Wen (Hera) and Andra Day (Athena), Scobell presented the teaser for the new season arriving on Disney Plus November 20. According to Scobell, this promises to take a turn we’ve not yet seen.

“This season is a lot darker than any season we’ve had before,” he said to Deadline. “I think, at least for Aryan [Simhadri], Leah [Sava Jeffries], me, Charlie [Bushnell]… everyone that’s always coming back every season is awesome because we just get another chance [to do it again].”

Scobell also commented on the ability to adapt in real time during filming.

“Season 2 was coming out while we were filming Season 3, so we would get live updates on what people think we could do better, and we would just do it better.” he remarked. “So it was really awesome to get to do that. It’s fun.”

The official teaser trailer showcases the reveal of The Titan’s Curse, the plot of Riordan’s third installment of the bestelling books which are the show’s source material. The teaser opens with Percy facing the disapperance of Annabeth, fellow demigod and daughter of Athena and speaking of dreams haunted by prophecy. The prophecy in question is that of the Oracle of Delphi, who has foreseen one demigod child of the major three fated to raise Olympus up or bring it to ruin, with their own life hanging in the balance.

Featuring glimpses of series alumnus, veteran genre actor, and AEW superstar Adam Copeland as Ares and newcomer Kate McKinnon of SNL, Ghostbusters, and Barbie movie fame as Aphrodite, the teaser promises a season with larger scale, darker in tone, and charged with greater risk and enormous consequences for all.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 premieres November 20 on Disney Plus.
