When does something pass from trivial entertainment for children into legend? A case in point: LEGO Batman : Legacy of the Dark Knight. LEGO Batman has been around long enough as a franchise, on its own, to be part of our childhoods.
Today, WB Games has released the final launch trailer, giving us sneak peaks at the coolness juice the game brings to the table. And there’s a lot of it.
The game invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to become the hero of Gotham City, inspired by decades of Batman films, television, comic books, and games, and jam-packed with Batman nostalgia, DC lore, and TT Games’ signature brand of LEGO humor.
It walks us through every era of Batman and his rogues’ gallery of villains, as well as the friends he’s gained along the way.
With apologies, LEGO Batman was not made for kids. It was made for the grownups who remember every last page and frame of it. We remember how those comics and movies made us feel, and we want to return to the early days of the Batman, to relive those moments.
Watch the trailer.
Legacy of the Dark Knight will come out on May 22. If you preorder the Deluxe Edition, you can get it three days earlier, on May 19. The game will release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is planned, but there’s no release date for that yet.
