I’m pondering new ways to get our patronage up. Right now the entire station is being maintained on the support of just under 70 patrons. This is a dangerous place to stay in for very long. To get us up over a thousand dollars a month, we’re going to need 40 new patrons.

Exactly how to get them? That’s the puzzle. Facebook, as it turns out, is an increasingly useless platform for fundraising. Heck, they throttle our posts so much that out of 14,000 followers, only about 30 folks a day see them. Soooo, we’re looking at all our social media and trying to figure out a new way of doing all this.

It might be Discord. We’ll still keep Facebook, of course, if for no other reason than most of our friends are still there (also having been dealt the same sucker punch, the promise from Facebook that growing their audience membership there would help them over the long haul).

Patreon and Ko-Fi both now support integration with Discord, and all three of them support online stores from which we can just sell stuff directly to you instead of making you monkey with pledge levels to get the one thing you want. It all fits together, somehow. Over the next few weeks we’re going to be working on figuring out exactly how that works.

At very least, we’ll be adding tiers to Ko-Fi so that they mirror at least some of the ones on Patreon, so that through Discord those same tiers get the same Discord perks.

I’m wearing a lot of hats here, so sometimes it takes a bit for me to get some big new thing up to speed. In the meantime, thank you for your support, and thank you for keeping it tuned to SCIFI.radio. The best is yet to come.
