TORONTO (July 29, 2024) – Press Play Films announces Spaceman, a sci-fi fantasy film written and directed by Dan Abramovici. The film features J.K. Simmons, Mena Massoud, and Trevor Copp. Spaceman blends classic Hollywood styles with modern practical effects and tells the story of an artist, Spaceman (Trevor Copp), who battles his imposter syndrome (J.K. Simmons) to reclaim his creative passion with the help of his passion personified (Mena Massoud).

The film uniquely combines mime, stop motion, animation, and theatrical elements, exploring themes of identity, artistic passion, and human connection. It offers a fresh take on sci-fi and fantasy genres, promising an emotionally engaging and visually stunning experience.

J.K. Simmons, renowned for his versatile performances in film, television, and theater, brings depth to the role of the artist’s inner antagonist. Simmons won an Academy Award for his role in Whiplash and has been acclaimed for his work in films such as Being the Ricardos, The Tomorrow War, and the Spider-Man trilogy. His portrayal of complex characters adds a compelling layer to Spaceman.

Dan Abramovici, who has explored identity and surrealism in his previous works, began as an actor and transitioned into filmmaking. His credits include Ben’s At Home on Netflix and award-winning short films. Spaceman follows his successful projects and marks another step in his artistic journey.
