Ready for the final chapter in the Arcane saga? Set in Utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League of Legends champions and the power that will tear them apart. Vi and Powder go head to head in the new trailer.

Hailee Steinfeld is back as Vi in the new season of Arcane. Jason Spisak returns as Silco, with Ella Purnell as the fully grown, battle-hardened Jinx (Mia Sinclair Jenness played the younger version, Powder, in the previous season). In this final chapter, Jinx’s attack on the Council sets the stage for a dire escalation of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun.

Season 1 of Arcane earned four Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022, including Outstanding Animated Program – the first streaming series to win in that category. The series swept the 2022 Annie Awards with wins in nine categories including Best TV/Media, Best Writing, Best Voice Acting (Ella Purnell), Best Direction, Best Production Design, Best Character Animation, Best Storyboarding, Best Character Design and Best FX. The series was also recognized by the gaming community winning Best Adaptation at The Game Awards (2022).  In addition, the Arcane album was nominated for a 2022 Billboard Music Award for Top Soundtrack.

It’s unfortunate that it took two years to get Season 2 done, but with a project this complex and with the bar set so high from their incredible first season, Riot Games and showrunner Christian Linke had a lot to live up to. In many ways, before you win a bunch of awards, life is easier. You’re just trying to do the best job you can in bringing your vision to life. After you’ve won, the pressure is on, because you have to do it again and the whole world is watching you to see what happens.

And yes, Arcane will only be two seasons long. That was always the plan, and I think it’s a good one. You can design a story to fit a space, and then tell that story without leaving loose ends, or get high on your own supply and try making a third season when there’s nowhere to go that makes any sense. Riot Games gets it.

Arcane Season 2 arrives on Netflix in November of 2024. No precise release date has been set as of this writing.
