The more anticipated a film, the lazier the PR people who write the copy for the trailers get. The trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was released on YouTube with little more than the phrase “Only in Theaters, Juily 26”. That should tell you something.

Watch the trailer here. Be warned, though, this is a Deadpool trailer, so there will be some blue language, a fair amount of over-the-top blood, dialog glorifying drug use, and adamantium claws into Deadpool’s crotch in closeup. You might want to make sure your boss and your kids are both out of the room first.

The Time Variance Authority has recruited Deadpool on the eve of his own birthday party to go be a hero among heroes. But this is Wade Wilson we’re talking about here. Nothing will go according to plan.

The plan is to visit an alternate Earth’s timeline and extract a version of Wolverine that let his entire world die. Mind you, Logan is still Logan, and really does not want to be messed with. Wade isn’t going to let that slow him down much.

The direct tie-in to Loki and the TVA is delicious icing on this ridiculous popcorn and baloney cake. We can’t wait to see it. The movie looks like it’s going to constructed of 100% fan service, and we are here for it.

The film is not yet rated, but there’s no way it’s getting less than a PG. Deadpool 2 was rated R for violence, adult themes and language, and did just fine at the box office, so we’re betting on R.

Wolverine & Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Garner, Briana Hildebrand, and Patrick Stewart. Directed by Shawn Levy and produced by Kevin Feige (p.g.a.), Ryan Reynolds, Simon Kinberg and Shawn Levy, it makes its big screen debut on July 26, 2024.
