This is an unbelievable gamer’s wet dream: It’s Borderlands. Based on the popular game by Gearbox Entertainment, published by 2K, this new movie brings favorite characters to life, with a really surprising all star cast. This is metal.
Borderlands – Coming Soon! Starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.
Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Hart), a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis (Curtis), the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a wiseass robot.
Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.
Jamie Lee Curtis, seriously. Just when you think you’ve seen everything she can do, she does something like this. And Kate Blanchett? The Kate Blanchett, who’s won no fewer that eight Academy Awards, five for Best Actress, three for Best Supporting Actress. And Kevin Hart, the brilliant character actor from the Jumanji series. And Ariana Greenblatt is amazing as the insane preteen demolisionist Tiny Tina. The film will stay true to the game, with other characters from it popping up like daisies. Gina Gershon plays Mad Moxxi, one of Pandora’s most memorable shop keepers. She owns bars all over Pandora.
Based on one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, this is going to be straight up fan service, and we think it’s going to be as popular as Deadpool 3. It makes its theatrical debut this coming August 9, 2024.
Welcome to BORDERLANDS.
