Marvel Studios’ THE MARVELS | Teaser Trailer

Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers and Kamala Kahn all come together for the very first time in Marvel Studio’s The Marvels. Watch the teaser.

Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” is an upcoming film that brings together three previously separate character storylines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is a sequel to “Captain Marvel” and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau (who previously appeared in “WandaVision” as an adult).

The teaser begins with Monica Rambeau going on a spacewalk and encountering a strange rift in space, similar to the one that gave her powers in WandaVision. Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, aboard the S.A.B.E.R. space station, oversees her investigation of the rift. After making contact with the rift, Rambeau’s suit is sent tumbling, returning (fortunately) to the space station where Fury stands at an observation window, but it’s not Rambeau in the suit – it’s Kamala Kahn. Their powers have all somehow become entangled. Captain Marvel herself ends up in Kamala Kahn’s closet, teased in an end credits scene in the last episode of Ms. Marvel as presented on Disney+. Each time one of them uses their powers, all three of them switch places, and of course because the effect is tied to the use of their powers, the exchange always happens at the worst possible moment.

And naturally, it all has something to do with the Kree. And a herd of cats.

Yep, it’s a teamup movie, and we are here for it.

The film is directed by Nia DaCosta, who previously directed the horror film Candyman (2021). DaCosta is the first Black woman to direct a Marvel Studios film. The screenplay is written by Megan McDonnell, who wrote for the Disney+ series WandaVision. The Marvels is part of Phase Four of the MCU.

Frankly, we’re a bit surprised that this movie is so “inside baseball” for Marvel. We get that each of these heroes had a different beginning, but it took some creative thinking to get them all together into one storyline. Still, from appearances, it looks like you have to have seen Wandavision, Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel to really understand who these characters are in the first place. It was a gutsy move to put this in theaters instead of going straight to digital with it. Marvel Studios is making a lot of assumptions of their audience here.

Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau return in Marvel Studios’ #TheMarvels, only in theaters November 10.
