Video of the Day: Propp Shop’s ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ from the 1880’s

Star Wars has inspired countless forms of creative expression by its fans, and every now and then we discover something that stands out as being especially off the beaten path. Today’s sampling is Propp Shop’s scenes from Star Wars: A New Hope, but with the setting changed to Earth, circa 1880.

The occasional human being inserted into the scenes makes the rest of the cast—mostly action figures from the Bandai / Tamashi Nations Meisho Movie Realization series—read as a cast of hundreds. Add retro scenery and clever staging, and the illusion is complete.

The rich universe of Star Wars, with its diverse characters, iconic locations, and epic battles, has provided a wealth of material for fans to draw from and create their own interpretations. Additionally, the strong sense of community among Star Wars fans has led to the creation of numerous online forums, social media groups, and fan conventions where fans can share their creative works and connect with like-minded individuals.
