After that earlier tease we got last October, we now have a full trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Marvel Studios has a grand history of turning second or third tier heroes into box office juggernauts. This time it’s Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as Ant-Man and The Wasp diving unwillingly into adventure. The use of lesser known heroes and their back stories allows writers to explore new vistas of storytelling without worrying so much about slavish adherence to the published history of the characters in the comics.
Scott Lang makes a deal with Kang the Conqueror to get his life back, but it looks like it’s going to be a pretty lousy deal. Lang, in the trailer, ends up in locked in mortal combat with the ineffable Kang, who wants something that apparently only Lang can provide. His future with Hope Van Dyne and his daughter hinge on what he does next.
And, Kang the Conqueror isn’t the same man we met in the Loki series on Disney+, the one that Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino squared off against. This one apparently has Phenomenal Cosmic Powers, and has no issues with using them.
Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, along with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, explore the Quantum Realm, where they interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that goes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Jonathan Majors, and hits the theaters in 3D on February 17, 2023.
