1st Look: ‘Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Official Trailer

Marvel Studios has a grand history of turning second or third tier heroes into box office juggernauts. This time it’s Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as Ant-Man and The Wasp diving unwillingly into adventure. The use of lesser known heroes and their back stories allows writers to explore new vistas of storytelling without worrying so much about slavish adherence to the published history of the characters in the comics.

Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, along with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, explore the Quantum Realm, where they interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that goes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

A huge surprise was the discovery of Kang the Conqueror in the cast. Played by Jonathan Majors, this character has made the leap from television in the Disney+ series Loki to the big screen.

Almost as big a surprise for us was seeing Bill Murray in the trailer. We’ve most recently seen him in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but in terms of comicbooks, this is Bill Murray‘s third comic-book related role. He had previously voiced Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in a 1975 radio show adapting the early issues of “The Fantastic Four”, and later on would voice Garfield in Garfield and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.

This film, Thor: Love and Thunder and The Marvels were filmed the same time with Thor: Love and Thunder filmed in Sydney, Australia, The Marvels filmed in Jersey City, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Buckinghamshire, England and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, Turkey and London, England.

Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Michelle Pfieffer as Janet van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. Also in the film is Randall Park as FBI agent Jimmy Woo. Bill Murray plays a villain role, and IMDB doesn’t tell us what the name of his character is yet (probably because it would be spoilery to tell us). It releases only in theaters on February 17, 2023.
