The Saturn Awards have unveiled nominations for their 50th anniversary edition, with organizer the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films saying that the ceremony to reveal winners is set for October 25 in an event that will be livestreamed on ElectricNOW.
Warner Bros/DC’s The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, is the top-nominated film with twelve nominations, featuring in categories including Best Superhero Film, and acting noms for Robert Pattinson,
Marvel Studios, predictable, dominates this year’s Saturn Awards nominations in the Film and Streaming categories with movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor: Love and Thunder, Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as Disney+ series like Loki, WandaVision, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, What If? and Ms. Marvel.
Lucasfilm and Disney’s Star Wars franchise also did vary well, with ten nominations, earned by series’ like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
Also nomimated are A24’s indie hit Everything Everywhere All at Once and Jordan Peele’s Universal thriller Nope with seven mentions apiece.
In the TV world, AMC’s Better Call Saul leads the list with seven nominations, followed by AMC’s The Walking Dead, Netflix’s Stranger Things, Apple TV+’s Severance and the CW’s Superman & Lois with six nominations each.
The awards show will be live streamed on ElectricNow on October 25.
