Trailer Park: ‘Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe’

After a “creative” judge sentences them to space camp, a black hole sends our adolescent heroes 24 years into the modern future where the duo misuse Iphones, embark on a quest to score, and become targets of the Deep State.

Billed as the dumbest science fiction movie ever, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe is just laugh out loud dipstick stupid.

Beavis and Butt-Head got its start on MTV, of all places. Created by Mike Judge, the series follows the eponymous Beavis and Butt-Head, both voiced by Judge, a pair of teenage slackers characterized by their apathy, a lack of intelligence that suggests alcohol syndrome, bottom of the barrel lowbrow humor, and utter failure to attract women.

The characters originated in Judge’s 1992 short film Frog Baseball, which was broadcast by MTV’s animation showcase Liquid Television. After MTV commissioned a full series around the characters, Beavis and Butt-Head ran for seven seasons from March 8, 1993, to November 28, 1997.

The series was revived with an eighth season airing on MTV from October 27, 2011, to December 29, 2011, but was cancelled a second time following the season’s conclusion. A second revival on an initial two season order is scheduled to release on Paramount+.

During its initial run, Beavis and Butt-Head received widespread critical acclaim for its satirical, scathing commentary on society. The show’s popularity spawned various related media, including the theatrical film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America in 1996, a dozen video games, over a dozen books, two dozen home video releases, and a two year run in Marvel Comics.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe begins streaming on the Pararamount Plus service on June 23, 2022.
