Trailer Park: ‘Doctor Who: Flux’

The end is in sight for Jodie Whittaker the Doctor, but it’s not time to say our goodbyes just yet.

BBC One has released the official trailer for a first in the Doctor Who mythos — a six episode story arc, presented as a somewhat shortened season for Jodie Whittaker’s final run as the hero from Gallifrey. Three additional episodes will be added to the the series this time, allowing Whittaker to pass the torch to whomevr is next in the role.

The Flux is a major universe-shaping event that will bring the Sontarans, Weeping Angels, a new kind of creature called Ravegers, Cybermen, and other enemies of the Doctor from across the universe. The last time this happened was during the Pandorica story arc in which a plan was hatched to imprison Matt Smith’s Doctor for all time in Season 11.

Whittaker is leaving the role after season 13’s, departing along with showrunner Chris Chibnall. Russel T. Davies, the man responsible for the revival of the show in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston, will be returning as showrunner. for season 14. His 2023 return coincides with the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, and the BBC promises his return will be “explosive,”

The BBC has confirmed that the 13th season of Doctor Who will be arriving on Halloween, October 31, 2021. Whittaker will be joined once again by Yaz (Mandip Gill), as well as series newcomer John Bishop. The season is almost entirely written by Chibnall, with one co-writing credit for Maxine Alderton. Directorial duties will be provided by Jamie Magnus Stone and Azhur Saleem.
