Shimerman, Swink, and Frakes Fight Against Cancer

Armin Shimerman is a long-time fan favorite: Pascal in Beauty and the Beast, Principal Snyder in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Quark in Star Trek DS9, and Dr. Nefarious in Ratchet & Clank. He is also a respected Shakespearean actor and an author. Now he adds another role to his resume: cancer fighter.

Alongside two other Star Trek actors, his wife Kitty Swink and actor/director Jonathan Frakes, Shimerman is working as a fundraiser in the fight against pancreatic cancer (Felix Silla died of pancreatic cancer this month).

Kitty Swink is Mrs. Shimerman in her private life. She played a Bajoran government official, Minister Rozahn, and a Vorta military officer, Luaran, in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She is also a double cancer survivor, both breast cancer and pancreatic cancer.

Jonathan “One Take” Frakes came to fame playing First Officer William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation and David Xanatos in Disney’s Gargoyles, but he is better known these days as a director.
