Trailer Park: Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn in ‘The Christmas Chronicles 2’

The Christmas Chronicles 2 will be released November 25, 2020, on Netflix and in select theaters, exactly one month before Christmas. It stars former Disney star Kurt Russell as Santa Claus (Ego, the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Snake Plissken in Escape from New York and Escape from Los Angeles) and his real-life long-time girlfriend Goldie Hawn as Mrs. Claus. Based on the little shown in this trailer, it looks like Hawn will be rivalling Angela Lansbury and Betty White for best Mrs. Claus portrayal in Hollywood history.

As is so often the case in holiday movies, Christmas is in danger. However, I have every confidence that Santa and Mrs. Claus, with the help of the elves, and two children who have accidentally travelled through a wormhole to the North Pole will be able to save Christmas. Kate (played by Darby Camp – Emily Elizabeth in the 2021 Clifford the Big Red Dog movie) and Jack (Jazhir Bruno – the young hero in the new remake of Roald Dahl’s The Witches) are two children who accidentally leave a beach vacation and wind up at the North Pole.

The Christmas Chronicles 2, is, as the name implies, a sequel. It is directed by Chris Columbus (not the explorer, the producer of the first three Harry Potter movies and the first two Percy Jackson movies.) It is co-written by Columbus and Matt Lieberman (writer of the first The Christmas Chronicles and last year’s Addams Family animated movie).

New Zealand-born actor Julian Dennison (Firefist in Deadpool 2) plays Belsnickel, who appears to be the villain. He will also be appearing in Godzilla vs, Kong, which is scheduled to be released May of 2021.
