American actor Aldis Hodge, best known for playing genius hacker Alec Hardison on Leverage had been rumored to be co-starring with the Rock in Black Adam. Those rumors have now been confirmed: he will be playing the classic DC comics winged hero, Hawkman.

Hodge is best known for playing technological genius and science fiction fan Alec Hardison in Leverage. He also played Levi Jackson, husband of engineer Mary Jackson in the award-winning Hidden Figures. He starred as Noah in Underground. He guest starred in Supernatural as Jake Talley. He guest starred in an episode of Black Mirror. He played James Lanier in the most recent remake of The Invisible Man.

” I have a knack for destroying bullies. But there are some who think I need help: Hawkman, Dr Fate, and their new recruits Cyclone and Atom Smasher. They call themselves the Justice Society, an organization that believes in fighting for truth and justice. Well, I’m going to teach them, the only beliefs I fight for are mine. Welcome to truth, justice and the Black Adam way!”

Normally, Hawkman is considered a hero. However, as an anti-hero, Black Adam has his own opinion of Hawkman and his actions. Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson in the title role, and ostensibly releases in theaters on December 22, 2021, so we’re still a long way out from being able to go see it – assuming, of course, that enough movie theaters are open by then to make it worthwhile to release the film that way.
