The script is being written by Christina Hodson, who also wrote the script for Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.
Michael Keaton played Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). As reported previously by SCIFI.radio, Robert Pattinson will be playing the Caped Crusader in The Batman (predicted to have a 2021 release). Christan Bale has played Batman in Batman Begins (2005), The DarK Knight 2008(), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) Of course, in the minds of millions of television fans, the Batman will always be the late Adam West.
During Saturday’s DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes panel, Ezra Miller joined director Andy Muschietti, screenwriter Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) and producer Barbara Muschietti for a quick preview.
“It’s a time travel story,” Muscietti said, with Hodson adding, “Batman lost his parents, Superman lost his planet, Harley Quinn lost her egg sandwich, but Barry, he’s the only one who can go and change his personal story.”
“[It’s] the combination of giant spectacle action and fun with this incredibly personal intimate story of a boy who’s just trying to save his mum,” Hodson adds, teasing: “I’m also excited to see Andy’s version of Speed Force. They are literally unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”
The Flash movie, which is planned for release in summer 2022, will feature Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller, as he uses his powers to break the laws of physics to crash into various parallel dimensions, where he’ll encounter different versions of DC’s classic heroes. The new film is an adaptation of DC’s 2011 Flashpoint series of comic book crossovers.
J.K. Schmidt of ComicBook.com predicted “fans will not be confused due to the many different iterations [of Batman] that have been in the the spotlight over the last few decades.”
