Did J.K. Rowling Have COVID-19?

British author J. K. Rowling announced on April 6 that she had suffered from COVID-19 symptoms, but is now fully recovered. Ms. Rowling has an advantage most of us don’t (beyond being fabulously wealthy); she lives with a doctor. She is married to Dr. Neil Murray.

Although she admits she wasn’t tested, Ms. Rowling says she suffered from all the symptoms of Covid-19, but is now recovered. Medical specialists do not yet know whether or not those who have survived Covid-19 are forever after immune or if they can be re-infected.

While we are glad Ms. Rowling is feeling better, there is no way to know whether or not she actually had COVID-19 or just a seasonal upper respiratory infection. Although testing for the pandemic coronavirus is difficult to obtain in the US, one would expect one of the richest women in the world, and a doctor’s wife, to be able to have access to testing in a country with the N.H.S.

During this crisis, take sensible precautions, Follow social distancing guidelines. Wear a mask out of doors, especially if it’s required in your area. Wash your hands often and well. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and get moderate exercise, both of which will help maintain your immune system.
