It’s March 10, and you know what that means. It’s Mar10 Day, you won’t be able to back up without bumping into some reference or other to that famous plumber from the Nintendo video games.
Not to miss out on an opportunity, Nintendo and the LEGO Group are teaming up to make a new line of LEGO toys based on the Super Mario franchise. Nintendo teased the collaboration today on Twitter, giving us a tantalizing look at what’s coming.
“Something fun is being built!” Nintendo of America said on its official Twitter account. The video included in the tweet shows what looks like it might be a new Mario toy that includes an electronic display in its chest and mouth. A similar “Stay tuned…” tweet from the Lego Group also teases a brick-based Mario, but offers nothing other than the same video, and a couple of hashtags to follow: #LEGO and #LEGOSuperMario.
At the moment, exactly what’s coming isn’t clear, because LEGO hasn’t made any more definitive announcements than this, but Nintendo is marking Mar10 Day with a selection of very tasty discounts on top Mario games in North America and a scheme which gives players a 20% discount on select merchandise. If you’re looking to pick up any goods featuring Nintendo’s number one mascot, this would be the perfect day for it.
Happy Mar10 Day! How will you spend it?
