Today on The Event Horizon, join us as we speak with Madeleine Holly-Rosing, creator of the popular steampunk fantasy graphic novel series Boston Metaphysical Society  She’s with us this afternoon at 7 pm Eastern / 4 pm Pacific to talk about the third standalone story in the saga, called Boston Metaphysical Society: Ghosts and Demons. The Kickstarter to get it published has just launched!

It is the third standalone story that continues the original six issue mini-series. The story will be 35 pages in a 44 page perfect bound book. This is also the first Kickstarter in which Boston Metaphysical is presenting their first coloring book, with twenty illustrations by Alejandro Lee.

“This short graphic novel was inspired by a short story I wrote called, Here Abide Monsters, which was originally published in the anthology, Some Time Later from Thinking Ink Press. It dives into the backstory of one of the minor characters who happens to be a ghost.”

The Society is comprised of a blend of original and historical figures, each of which Ms. Holly-Rosing has written up into fully realized characters with compelling personal stories to tell. The members are: Samuel Hunter, ex-Pinkerton Detective; Caitlin O’Sullivan, Medium and Spirit Photographer and Granville Woods, Scientist Extraordinaire.

With art and colors by Gwynn Tavares and lettering by Troy Peteri, in this story Caitlin and Alma have continued Mary and Frida’s work as union organizers, but when Caitlin has a disturbing dream about her childhood friend, Duncan the ghost, she decides to return to Boston to find out what’s wrong. Though it is a happy reunion with Samuel and Granville, something much more sinister awaits her and the team.
