Prime Announces Casting for ‘Wheel of Time’

Amazon Prime has announced its casting choices for its adaptation of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time saga. Variety announced that Amazon had found the main cast, and Amazon sent out the confirmation on Twitter.

“Josha Stradowski has been cast in the role of Rand al’Thor, with Marcus Rutherford set to play Perrin Aybara and Zoë Robins playing Nynaeve. In addition, Barney Harris will play Mat Cauthon and Madeleine Madden will play Egwene Al’Vere. They join previously announced cast member Rosamund Pike,” according to Variety.

I suspect they meant shone, rather than shown.

Madeleine Madden is currently appearing in Dora and the Lost City of Gold as Sammy. She was Violca in the fantasy TV series Tidelands and Corrie in Tomorrow, When the War Began.

Barney Harris played Ned in The Hollow Crown and Sykes in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

New Zealand actress Zoe Robins previously played the White Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Steel and Zora in The Shannara Chronicles. She was also Faygar in The New Tomorrow.

Marcus Rutherford has appeared in the British mystery show Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, and starred in the movie Obey.

Josha Stradowski has appeared in several Dutch plays movies, and TV shows, including Instinct, Hidden Stories, and Just Friends.

British actress Rosamund Pike will be playing Moiraine Damodred. She was Lady Penelope in the 2015 revival of Thunderbirds Are Go. She stars as Marie Curie in Radioactive, which is scheduled to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 14, 2019, and be released in the USA in 2020.

Rosamund Pike has been cast as Moraine Damodred.

This Amazon series was adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins, whose previous credits include Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hemlock Grove. Executive producers on the series include Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of Red Eagle Entertainment, Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe and Uta Briesewitz. Briesewitz is also poised to direct the first two episodes. Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal and Brandon Sanderson will serve as consulting producers with Pike set to produce in addition to starring. The Wheel of Time is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
