Trailer Park: 1st Full Length Trailer for CBS All Access’ ‘Star Trek: Picard’

Captain on the bridge.

Moments ago, Sir Patrick Stewart treated attendees of the Star Trek: Picard panel at San Diego Comic-Con to the first full trailer for the new CBS All Access series, and it’s astonishing.

Watch the trailer first, then we’ll come back and talk about what we’ve just witnessed.

We had heard unconfirmed rumors that Brent Spiner and Jeri Ryan were going to be in it. We didn’t see how Spiner could be, since he’s certainly aged since he was on the original Star Trek: The Next Generation series, but we weren’t figuring on the magic of CGI.

Those rumors are now confirmed.

Michael Chabon, the showrunner, is quoted as saying that Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will reprise their respective roles as Will Riker and Deanna Troi in the new series. Frakes was already confirmed to direct the third and fourth episodes.

A strange woman named Dahj (Isa Briones) has come to Picard for aid. She has been identified as somebody who is “the end of all – she’s the Destroyer.” – but the destroyer of what? The Borg? Because we see a Borg cube in a short clip. Whoever she is, she’s in terrible danger, and Picard is summoned to command once again.

Star Trek: Picard comes to CBS All Access in 2020, though IMDB lists it as releasing in 2019. It stars Sir Patrick Stewart, Santiago Cabrera, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway and Rebecca Wisocky. No plot information is available on the IMDB page, and no mention is made of either Spiner or Ryan, so it’s safe to assume that there are many more surprises in store. The plot and story arc are being kept a closely guarded secret for now.

Once again, American audiences will be limited to those with CBS All Access subscriptions. International audiences will be able to view it on Amazon Prime.
