CBS is Live Streaming the Apollo 11 Landing Right Now

It’s the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar Mission, and CBS is live streaming all the news that happened today exactly 50 years ago.

Fifty years ago minus four days, Apollo 11 began its voyage into American history. The Saturn V rocket carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin and Michael Collins launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:32 a.m. on July 16, 1969. Four days later – 50 years ago today – Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, said these immortal words as he hopped down off the short ladder on the leg of the lunar lander onto the moon’s surface:

That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

The moon mission was a milestone in human history. But it was also a groundbreaking moment in broadcast television, as CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite brought the frontier of space to living rooms across America.

And now, the CBS synchronized live coverage of the landing.

It’s a slice of history, and a chance to experience the mood of the world as humanity began its most exciting adventure.
