Video of the Day: Abney Park’s ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’

I think we can all agree that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was steampunk FA. It lacked the grittiness of the goth color scheme used by modern steampunks, but the car itself was the definition of the spirit of steampunk.

Abney Park, arguably one of the greatest steampunk bands on the planet, noticed it too. Today they have released a brand new single, and it’s a cover of the classic song from the film.

The original film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was released in 1968, and the song itself was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. This new cover of the tune was done as part of their monthly efforts to cover new songs in their own inimitable style.
